Flexible loyalty journeys with rule builder

The loyalty rule builder empowers you to design, build and implement flexible loyalty journey’s from the UI. For this best practice we will outline a scenario and then take you through, step by step, how you can use the loyalty rule builder to achieve the loyalty journey.

Scenario:

You managed to secure 200 concert tickets to a popular K-POP live performance, and you will use this opportunity to boost customer acquisition by delivering irresistible rewards. Your strategy is also designed to encourage existing Members to advance their tier standing to qualify for concert ticket redemptions.

Special Considerations:

  • Highly desirable reward will be oversubscribed - Limit stock and manage hard stop reward issuance
  • Make it a multi-task effort to reach the reward - Generate continuous spending and engagement while members do their best to reach the reward qualification
  • Disappointment for those who did an effort but that did not manage to secure the reward - How to convert any potential disappointment to gratitude

Objectives:

  • Increase acquisition
  • Boost interaction across multiple channels
  • Advance tier movement to highest tier
  • Generate brand hype with exciting reward
  • Surprise and delight those who reached the goal but did not manage to get a ticket. Allow using 1,200 KPOPS earned to redeem memorabilia/brand products/discounted items at preferred rates
  • Build long term excitement, not just who clicks fastest to redeem, with event social postings of happy members during the concert

Loyalty Mechanics:

Apply for those who joined the challenge

  • Campaign period: 1 month (1 April – 30 April)
  • Use dedicated point type “K-POPS” for the campaign
  • Only Diamond tier (highest of 3 tiers) can redeem a concert ticket for 1,200 K-POPS
  • Give 2x K-POPS for each on-line $ spent
  • Give 3x K-POPS for each in-store $ spent
  • Give 5 K-POPS every day the Mobile App has been opened, 10-20 April
  • Allow redemption of an additional ticket if the member has at least 1 new referral with minimum $200 spending
  • Cap to 200 ticket rewards
  • Highlight each achievement to the member

Execution Plan (Steps)

Below steps by step execution describes how the loyalty journey can be set up to achieve the objectives. Contact us for a full live demonstration of similar campaign mechanics setup.

#1

Setup base configuration for KPOP campaign

In the Loyalty Admin module, setup the master items that will be used in the campaign.

  • Participation KPOP voucher
  • Participation KPOP badge
  • K-POP Ticket reward
  • KPOP point type

After setting up the point type and the badge then use the AI rewards engine to generate the K-POP ticket reward with a single prompt.

Change the AI generated image to the approved K-POP group image.

Create a participation voucher that auto issue the participation badge when redeemed – The K-POP point rules will be limited to members that have chosen to participate and have the badge. Set campaign participation voucher redemption to start 45 days before the campaign period starts

The badge will show in the mobile app home page for members to keep in mind that they are participating in the challenge.

Create a campaign

Setup a campaign using the Engage module and then setup the real time loyalty mechanics and scheduled campaign communications from within the campaigns with automatically links all related campaign plans, activities and statistics grouped together and available in one place.

Set up KPOPS loyalty mechanics

Use the drag & drop rule builder to setup the following loyalty rules

·       3x K-POPS for online purchase, weekdays only and minimum spend =  $10 per transaction

·       2x K-POPS for in-store purchase, weekdays only and minimum spend =  $10 per transaction

·       5x K-POPS every day the mobile app has been opened, valid 10-20 April

Setting up the 3x K-POPS rule starting with setting the weekday and tier RESTRICTIONS.

Then setting up the CRITERIA to require minimum $10 spending and that the spending member owns the participation badge (Tag).

Finally defining the Actions that should happen when the criteria are fulfilled and, in our case, it is to issue 3 x K-POPS for every $ spent through the eCommerce channel. The expiry should be set to the fixed date 1 May 2026.

We proceed with setting up all loyalty mechanisms inside the campaign, using the rule builder.

Set up KPOPS referral mechanics

A member signs up using a referral code a relationship record is created between the two members profiles. The referral loyalty mechanics are also set up with the rule builder using a count on relationship criteria. If the referral is only recognized with a first spending, then the spending criteria is used in combination with the relationship count criteria.

Pre-Campaign engagements

  1. 45 days before campaign period start, market the campaign on social media, website and with instore posters
  2. Send an email to all members 45 days before the campaign period starts – include mobile app deep-link that directly takes the member to the participation voucher in the mobile app
  3. After 3 days, send an SMS to those who did not open the email
  4. 15 days before the campaign period starts send a WhatsApp message to those that have not registered for campaign participation
  5. 10 days before the campaign period – Early Bird recognition with 100 KPOPS
  6. 3 days before the campaign period, communicate who all participants that they are 3 days from the start to of the campaign and their ticket

Live Campaign engagements & execution

  • 5 days after campaign start– Checkpoint – if there are tickets left, and for those who have earned 50% of required KPOPS, send communication that they are almost there
  • Post Campaign engagement
  • Congratulate members who redeemed a ticket – inform about instore collection
  • Congratulate members who redeemed a ticket plus a friend ticket  – inform about instore collection
  • Congratulate those who got enough KPOS but did not manage to redeem a ticket and give them the positive news that they can use the KPOS to redeem memorabilia/brand products/discounted items at preferred rates

After completing the set up the campaign loyalty rules and all scheduled engagements are graphically visible in the campaign timeline page which marketing teams use to get a full overview of all campaigns that are planned and running and to know what is happening when.

Before the first scheduled pre-campaign engagement is scheduled to run, make sure that all necessary approvals have been obtained. Approval workflows usually cover budget, design, and final approval, but custom workflows may also apply.

If all approvals are obtained the scheduled engagements and real time loyalty mechanics that are part of the campaign will run automatically and you can see the performance in your campaign, engagement and sales reports and dashboards.
